Zhang Hui Cheung was born in 1979 in the year of the Goat. He left his native Shan Dong provence, near the seaside town of Qingdao (I mean beer town) in 2004 to throw his hat into Beijing's competitive tattoo scene. He trained under some of China's best artists and worked his way through the Beijing and Qingdao scene to Shanghai where Ting spotted him and snapped him up.
He has been with Shanghai Tattoo since Summer 2009. In the time that he's been with us he has built up his own fan base with all of his customers impressed with his rock solid technique and personality. When I say rock solid, i mean just that. This guy stays cool no matter what.
His patience and diligence comes across in his work, this guy loves to do it all. Shit hot at custom Tribal, Traditional and Black & Grey Western, but more than willing and pleased to work off customer's own designs. Cover Ups are also a speciality of his. We've seen people come in with monstrosities and leave with pieces of art. Could be anything wizards hidden with skulls, old faded snakes brought back to life, lizards covered with demons, even tribal tucked under Bin Laden's beard. He has a real flair for hiding that old piece of shit with something stunning!
He tackles each tattoo, no matter how small or simple, with total commitment, from little butterflies to gargantuan dragons, you end up with a tattoo that he's proud of and if he's happy you are going to be fucking blown away.
When he's not in the shop he's out and about spending time with his lovely wife.
